Purpose of EMI RFI Enviromental seals wire mesh shielding
EMI RFI wire mesh shielding is a combination EMI/RFI shield with an environmental and pressure seal. The EMI RFI enviromental seals wire mesh shielding are manufactured by bonding CUSTOM MESH to an elastomer strip. The knitted mesh can be fabricated from Monel, SnCuFe (tin-plated, copper-clad steel), phosphor bronze or aluminum wire. The elastomer seal is available in silicone or neoprene, sponge or solid.
Custom Strips Applications
CUSTOM STRIPS are recommended for applications which require shielding with an environmental seal. The mesh provides the shielding and the elastomer provides the seal. The applications include sealing of enclosure doors, access panels and vent panels.
Custom Strips Available Configurations
The EMI RFI Enviromental seals wire mesh shielding strips are available with an adhesive strip which allows easy application and positioning of the gasket.
CUSTOM STRIPS are available with a silicone or neoprene, solid or sponge elastomer seal. For the solid elastomer seal, the mesh is 0.032” (0.81) higher than the elastomer because the solid elastomer is not easily compressed compared to the wire mesh. For the sponge elastomer, the mesh is the same height as the sponge elastomer because they are equally compressable.
Custom Strips Standardize Sizes
Table 12A lists standard sizes of CUSTOM STRIPS with a single EMI/RFI shielding gasket. Table 12B lists the elastomer with dual mesh strips for increased shielding. CUSTOM STRIPS are available in continuous length rolls or can be fabricated to any specification.
